Mackenzie has been a licensed funeral director and embalmer since March of 2021. She graduated from Wayne State University and obtained a bachelor’s degree in Mortuary Science in August of 2020. She grew up around the funeral home, but wasn't sure that she wanted to follow in the family tradition of becoming a funeral director. After attending the University of Alabama her freshman year studying nursing, she returned home to complete college. After re-evaluating and shadowing at the funeral home, she decided helping people during some of the most difficult times of their lives was her passion. She is looking forward to a rewarding career and continuing her family’s legacy serving Westland and the surrounding communities. Her passion for teaching and learning has led her back to Wayne State University, where she is currently a teacher's assistant within the Mortuary Science program.
Mackenzie is also a licensed pre-need insurer and works with clients to make funeral arrangements prior to one's passing for themselves or others.
In her free time, Mackenzie enjoys playing and snuggling with her dog, Ryder, playing golf, and reading.
