Yvonne
Adkins
January 20, 1940 – August 6, 2024
Yvonne Adkins, a beacon of love and faith, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2024, in Wayne, Michigan, at the age of 84. Born on January 20, 1940, in Hyden, Kentucky, Yvonne's life was a testament to her unwavering spirit and the deep bonds she forged with those around her.
Yvonne was the cherished wife of the late Donzel L. Adkins, to whom she was married for 58 remarkable years. Together, they built a life founded on love, mutual respect, and shared values. Her legacy continues through her devoted sons, Jeffery (Lynda) Adkins and Darrin (Robin) Adkins, who carry forward her teachings and warmth.
She was a sister of immense love and loyalty to Doris (Will) Fairchild and Robert Fields. Yvonne was predeceased by her caring parents, Mary and Walter Fields, her loving daughter, Teresa Dailey and son in law, Bill, her beloved sisters, Violet, Mary Lou, Wilma, and Janie, as well as her dear brothers, Michael, Paul, William (Preston), Ralph, and David. Yet, her nurturing presence is still felt profoundly by her fourteen grandchildren and the countless great-grandchildren who were her pride and joy.
Yvonne dedicated her life to her family, embodying the role of homemaker with grace and dedication. Her hands, always busy, were a symbol of her commitment to creating a welcoming and loving home. She was a pillar of strength and affection, not only to her immediate family but to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Her faith was a central part of Yvonne's existence. She invested countless hours researching the Bible, crafting lessons that she eagerly shared with others. Her love for gospel music was profound, and her voice, singing hymns of praise, will continue to echo in the hearts of those who heard her.
A familiar face to fans of "Wheel of Fortune," Yvonne never missed an episode, cheering on contestants and solving puzzles from her living room with a sharp mind and a playful spirit. But it was the time spent with her family that she cherished most, whether it was a large family gathering or a quiet afternoon with a loved one.
Yvonne will be remembered as a loving, courageous, and faith-filled woman. Her strength was gently wrapped in kindness, and her courage was displayed through her unwavering trust in her beliefs. She faced life's challenges with a confident smile, inspiring those around her to do the same.
Her passing leaves a void in the fabric of her family and community, yet her influence remains indelible. Yvonne's life was a journey of love, a path marked by the lives she touched and the hope she instilled. She has left this world richer for her presence, and her spirit will continue to guide and comfort us.
As we say farewell to Yvonne Adkins, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a soul eternally cherished. Her story does not end here, for it is carried on in the memories we hold, the lessons she taught, and the love she shared. Rest in peace, dear Yvonne, until we meet again.
