William Edward
Hutchinson
December 16, 1947 – June 21, 2025
William Edward Hutchinson, a cherished family man, respected veteran, and a pillar in the automotive industry, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2025, in Livonia, Michigan. Born on December 16, 1947, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, William's journey through life was marked by dedication, love, and an unwavering commitment to his family and community.
William's early years in Pittsburgh laid a strong foundation for a life of integrity and service. After proudly serving his country in the Army, he returned to civilian life and embarked on a successful career in the automotive industry, where his expertise and leadership were held in high regard by his colleagues and peers. His work was not only a means of livelihood but also a platform for innovation and mentorship, as he generously shared his knowledge with those around him.
At home, William's heart belonged to his family. A devoted husband of 34 years, he was a source of unwavering support and love for his wife, Laura Hutchinson. He was a loving son to his late parents, William and Myrtle, a caring brother to his siblings, George, Sheree and the late Barbie, and a caring father to his children—mourning the loss of his son, Mark Meyer, and celebrating the lives of Bob (Patty) Hutchinson, Kathy (Randy) Pattee, and Billy Hutchinson. His role as a grandfather was one he cherished deeply, and his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the recipients of his boundless affection and the stories of his rich experiences.
Beyond his familial and professional commitments, William's passions painted the canvas of his life with vibrant colors. His hands were skilled in the art of woodworking, and his strokes of the brush brought his paintings to life, each piece telling a story of its own. The joy of supporting his grandchildren in their extracurricular activities was a source of immense pride, and his presence in the stands was both a fixture and a blessing.
Travel was another of William's joys, and he seized every opportunity to explore new horizons, always with an eagerness to learn and a readiness to impart wisdom. He believed that every journey was a chance to grow, and he embraced the diversity of the world with an open heart and mind.
William's legacy is one of love, laughter, and the wisdom that he shared so freely. He leaves behind a family that adored him, friends who respected him, and a community that was better for his presence. As we bid farewell to William Edward Hutchinson, we do so with gratitude for the time we shared and the memories we will forever hold dear. His spirit, a beacon of love and strength, will continue to guide us in the days to come, and he will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege to know him.
