Obituary

Welton Eugene Fowler, age 82, passed away on April 15, 2026, in Garden City, Michigan, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, music, and devotion to family.

He was born on June 6, 1943, in Jefferson City, Missouri, to Cecil Fowler and Alma Fowler, both of whom preceded him in death. Welton grew up with a strong sense of family and carried those values with him throughout his life. He was known by those who loved him as a kind, loving, and deeply devoted man whose presence brought comfort and joy to others.

Welton married the love of his life, Marilyn Fowler, in November of 1964 after meeting her at the end of her high school days. Their marriage was built on years of shared memories, steadfast commitment, and enduring affection. Marilyn preceded him in death in 2019, and their bond remained one of the great loves of his life. Together they built a family that was central to everything he did, and he treasured every moment spent with them.

He is survived by his daughter, Tanya (Kirk) Wilson, as well as by his siblings, Phil (Brenda) Fowler, and Rick (Kathy) Fowler. He was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Fowler, and by his brother, the late Wayne Fowler and his wife Elaine. Welton loved his family deeply and was especially proud of the people they became. His love for them was constant, genuine, and unwavering, and he showed that love in the way he lived each day.

Welton spent many years working at General Motors in the motor room, beginning in July of 1981 and retiring in November of 2006. He enjoyed his job and took pride in the work he did. He was dependable, knowledgeable, and respected by those who worked alongside him. His strong work ethic and practical wisdom were part of who he was, and he carried those qualities into every area of his life.

Outside of work, Welton found great joy in music. The two loves of his life were his family and music, and he embraced both with his whole heart. Although he was never one to claim great talent, he loved to sing and play music, and he did so with enthusiasm and joy. Music was not simply a pastime for him, but a source of happiness and expression that reflected his spirited personality.

Welton was also known for his humor and his playful nature. He was very goofy, so much so that it became his nickname among those who knew him best. His lighthearted spirit could brighten a room, and his sense of humor brought smiles to family and friends alike. He had a way of making others feel comfortable and welcomed, and his laughter was often just as memorable as his words.

He was also a very smart man who knew how to do a great many things. He loved trivia and enjoyed sharing what he knew. His mind was sharp, curious, and full of practical knowledge, and he had a gift for remembering details and solving problems. Those who spent time with him appreciated his intelligence, his insight, and the thoughtful way he approached life.

Welton will be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother, and friend. He lived a life marked by devotion, hard work, and genuine affection for the people around him. His family meant everything to him, and he gave them his heart freely and completely. Though he will be deeply missed, his memory will live on in the stories shared, the songs remembered, the laughter he inspired, and the love he gave so generously.

His life was a testament to the importance of family, the joy of music, and the value of a good laugh. Welton Eugene Fowler will be remembered with love and gratitude by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
