Vincent Thomas Vasely Sr., age 79, of New Port Richey, Florida, passed away surrounded by family on February 8, 2021.
Vincent Thomas Vasely was born on January 22, 1942 in Detroit, Michigan to parents Joseph Vasely and Matilda Welc Vasely. He was raised along with siblings Ed, Don, Bob, MaryAnn, Betty, Catherine and John.
Vince enlisted in the United States Navy on July 17, 1961 in Detroit, Michigan. He served as an aviation electrician during the Vietnam War until his honorable discharge in June of 1965.
Vince met his wife, Sharon Greenwood on a blind date in January 1969. They married on October 11, 1969 and raised two children together: Vincent Jr. and Jennifer. Over the years, Vince and Sharon enjoyed spending time with friends and family in between visits to the casino.
Vince was a long-time resident of Wayne, Michigan. He was an active member of the Kiwanis Club of Wayne and later the Kiwanis Club of Wyandotte. He enjoyed the outdoors and had a unique ability to connect with wildlife. He had a knack for fishing, telling stories and cracking jokes.
The most important thing to Vince was his family. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Vasely; son, Vincent Vasely Jr.; daughter, Jennifer (Wade) Rickard; and his beloved grandchildren. Vince was truly happiest when spending time with his loving family.
A private burial is to take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan. A celebration of Vince's life will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Wounded Warriors.
