In Loving Memory of Verdie Hilton
Verdie Hilton was born on November 24, 1928, in Lincoln County, Kentucky. She entered her heavenly home on October 15, 2026.
Verdie was the beloved wife of Calvin Hilton for 46 years. During the later years of his life, she lovingly cared for him for 20 years until his passing in 2004.
Verdie was the proud mother of three sons: Garry Hilton (Tami) of Ypsilanti, Michigan; the late Phillip Hilton; and a baby boy who passed away at birth.
Verdie was the oldest member of Kingdom Life Church. She loved her church and faithfully attended services each week. She was dearly loved by her church family and will be remembered for her steadfast faith and the love she shared with everyone around her.
Verdie was preceded in death by her parents, Phillip and Eva Rice of Crab Orchard, Kentucky; her beloved husband, Calvin Hilton; her sons, Phillip Hilton and her infant son; and her siblings, Elizabeth, William, Peggy, Eugene, Loretha, Isabell, Mary, Lettie, Odell, and Virgie.
Verdie was one of 12 children. She is survived by her brother, Jasper (Mary) Rice of Westland, Michigan, and her sister, Joyce (Jackie) Helton of Westland, Michigan.
Verdie is also survived by her grandchildren: Eric Hilton and his wife, Marie, of Garden City, Michigan; Aaron Hilton of Romulus, Michigan; Amanda Hilton of Carlton, Michigan; and Stephanie and Kaleb Strahl of Tecumseh, Michigan.
She will also be lovingly remembered by her great-grandchildren, Connor, Cole, Calvin, Kayla, Mercedes, Temperance, Gabriella, and Kainan.
Verdie also leaves behind her bonus daughters, Connie Gillikan, the late Pricilla Hilton, and Irene Hilton, who were a special part of her life.
Verdie will be deeply missed by her family, church family, and all who knew and loved her. Her life, faith, and devotion to those she cherished will remain a treasured part of the lives she touched.
