Steven Wayne
Piper
September 25, 1952 – May 21, 2024
Steven Wayne Piper, known affectionately as Steven to his friends and family, embarked on his final adventure on May 21, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of laughter and love. Born on September 25, 1952, in Wayne, Michigan, Steven was a man who lived life with a twinkle in his eye and a joke on his lips. Steven's life was one of service and patriotism, having honorably served his country as an Army veteran. He was a man who marched to the beat of his own drum, or more accurately, to the strum of his own guitar. His love for music was only matched by his passion for the great outdoors. A hunter at heart, Steven truly felt at home in the woods, and his cabin was his sanctuary-a place where he could be one with nature, sip on his blackberry brandy, and perhaps enjoy a "doobie" in peace. A proud member of the Romulus Church of God, Steven's faith was as rock-solid as his handshake. He was a God-fearing Christian who walked the talk, and when he spoke about his beliefs, even the squirrels sat up and listened. His kindness and loving nature were as renowned as his faith; he had a heart that was big enough to embrace all of creation. Steven's family was the cornerstone of his life. Though his parents, John and Gladys Piper, and his beloved wife, Hilda, had preceded him in passing, their memories and lessons lived on through him. He was a brother to Roger (and his wife Kathy), John, Kim (and her husband Larry), Tim, Julie, and Amelia (and her husband Everett). His role as the fun uncle to his 11 nieces and nephews, and 15 grand nieces and nephews, cannot be overstated. Steven taught them the important things in life, like how to play a mean guitar and the art of telling a joke that could make milk shoot out of your nose. Those who knew Steven knew that he was a man of many quirks and an endless supply of laughter. He had the rare ability to turn the mundane into the extraordinary with just a few words. His legacy is not just in the stories he left behind, but in the way he made each person feel-valued, loved, and always with a hint of mischief. So, let's raise a glass of blackberry brandy to Steven Wayne Piper, a man who never took life too seriously, except when it came to love, faith, and freedom. He may have left the physical world, but his spirit will continue to echo through the woods, across the strings of a guitar, and in the hearts of all who were lucky enough to know him. Steven, here's to you, the man who lived, loved, and laughed like no other.
