Obituary

Steven Michael Cecale, a man known for his infectious humor and boundless love, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2024, in Westland, Michigan. Born on March 18, 1959, in Detroit, Michigan, Steven's life was a testament to joy, service, and the simple pleasures of life.

A proud Marine veteran, Steven served his country with honor before taking to the skies as a flying instructor, sharing his passion for aviation with countless students. His dedication to flight was further exemplified by his 20-year membership with "The Flying Pilgrims" flying club, where he was not only a mentor but a cherished friend.

Steven's love of life was as vast as the skies he so adored. A self-proclaimed goofball, his ability to make people smile was unmatched. His great sense of humor was a beacon of light that drew others to him, and he had the unique gift of finding the perfect song for every occasion. Whether it was the laughter following one of his jokes or the shared joy of music, Steven brought warmth and affection to every room he entered.

Among his many interests, Steven held a special place in his heart for his canine companions. His love for dogs was as pure as his love for flying, and he often said that the loyalty and friendship of a dog were unmatched. This love was a reflection of Steven's own character-loyal, steadfast, and loving.

Steven's family was the cornerstone of his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick and Katherine Cecale, and his sister, Sandra Wilson. He is survived by his brothers, Randy, Kirk, and Tony (Jenni) Cecale; brother-in-law, Bill Wilson; and his adored nieces and nephews, April (Tracy) Southern, Courtney Cecale, Eric Cecale, Christopher Cecale, Hannah Wilson, and Ryan Cecale. Each family member cherished their time with Steven, knowing that moments spent with him were filled with laughter and love.

A man with a great sense of humor, Steven was affectionately nicknamed "Bigfoot." This moniker was a playful nod to his larger-than-life personality and his ability to leave a lasting impression on everyone he met. His favorite movie, "My Cousin Vinny," was a reflection of his own wit and his ability to find humor in every situation.

To know Steven was to know happiness. He was a funny and loving soul whose memory will be treasured by all who had the joy of knowing him. His legacy is one of laughter, kindness, and an unwavering zest for life.

As we bid farewell to Steven Michael Cecale, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a man dearly loved. His spirit, like the planes he flew, soars high and free, leaving us with memories that will forever warm our hearts and bring smiles to our faces. Though he has taken his final flight from this world, his journey continues in the hearts of those who loved him. Rest in peace, dear Steven "Bigfoot", until we meet again.
