Sharon Kay
Johnson
December 1, 1949 – March 23, 2026
Sharon Kay Johnson passed away peacefully on March 23, 2026, in Garden City, Michigan, at the age of 76. Born on December 1, 1949, in Dearborn, Michigan, to the late Ralph Martin and Rose Marie Anthony, Sharon's life was a testament to the power of kindness and devotion.
Sharon's heart found its match when she married Edward Johnson on December 18, 1965. Their union was a cherished one, lasting until Edward's passing in 2017. Together, they raised a family that became Sharon's pride and joy: Sheila (Charles) Smith, Rose Allen, Charles (Lucinda) Johnson, Jeffrey (Angel) Johnson, and their beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought immense happiness to her life.
A grandmother par excellence, Sharon's grandchildren—Nathan, Noah, Hannah, Amber, Tiffany, Dawn, Claude, Steffean, Christian, Blaine, Katelynn, Kayla, Jeffrey, Chelsea, Bethanie, Chris, and Josh—along with her 23 great-grandchildren, were the light of her life. She cherished every moment spent with them, weaving a tapestry of memories that will be treasured forever.
Sharon's siblings, Donald Martin, the late Dean Martin, and the late David Martin, shared in the joys and sorrows of life's journey with her. Her family circle was a source of strength and comfort, reflecting the love that Sharon so freely gave.
Her interests were as nurturing as her spirit. Sharon's hands were rarely still, as she loved crocheting, creating warmth not just through her crafts but also through her presence. Her garden was a labor of love, with vegetables that were tended with the same care she gave to her relationships. A fresh pot of coffee was always ready in Sharon's home, symbolizing her open heart and the welcome she extended to all who crossed her threshold.
Sharon's faith was the cornerstone of her existence. She was a wellspring of biblical knowledge, always ready to share the comfort and wisdom found in scripture. Her involvement with the Garden City Jaycettes, where she once served as chairman, and her membership at the Wayne Wesleyan Church, were outward expressions of her commitment to service and community.
Described by those who knew her as faith-filled, loving, and kind, Sharon's legacy is one of unwavering love and selfless giving. Her life was a reflection of her beliefs, and she touched the lives of many with her gentle spirit and compassionate soul.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ) or The Gideons International.
