Obituary

Sharon Ann Allstead, a beloved figure in her community and a pillar of strength to her family, passed away peacefully on November 26, 2024, in Wayne, Michigan. Born on August 31, 1941, in Detroit, Michigan, Sharon's life was a tapestry of dedication, love, and an unquenchable thirst for knowledge.

Sharon's journey began as the cherished daughter of Charles and Roberta Blackstone, both of whom predeceased her. It was at Roosevelt High School that Sharon's heart was captured by Ed Allstead, who would become her lifelong partner and husband. Their union, which commenced in matrimony on February 16, 1963, was blessed with unwavering love and partnership for 62 remarkable years.

Sharon's legacy is lovingly carried on by her devoted husband, Ed, her son Bradley Allstead and his wife Maryanne, her daughter Wendy Allstead, and her adored grandchildren: Devan, Avery, Anica, and Thea. Each family member was touched by Sharon's loving but strong-willed nature-a testament to her spirit and character.

After dedicating years to nurturing her family as a stay-at-home mom, Sharon returned to the workforce with vigor and enthusiasm. For 15 years, she was an integral part of the team at Henry Ford Museum and  Greenfield Village, where she found immense joy and fulfillment. Sharon's passion for history was not only a personal interest but also a cornerstone of her professional life, as she immersed herself in the stories and events that shaped our past.

Sharon's love for knowledge was only rivaled by her love for Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village. It was her home away from home, a place where she could be found most weekends, savoring the historical events and sharing her passion with others. Sharon's presence at the museum and Village was so constant and enthusiastic that it became synonymous with her very essence.

In her leisure, Sharon was an avid learner, always seeking to expand her horizons and understand the world around her. Her strong will was evident in every pursuit she undertook, whether in her personal or professional life. Sharon was a woman of conviction, not easily swayed, yet her heart remained open and loving to those she held dear.

Sharon's life was not only about the pursuit of knowledge but also about imparting wisdom and joy to those around her. Her influence extended beyond her immediate circle, touching the lives of many who had the pleasure of knowing her. She was a beacon of strength, inspiring others to pursue their passions with the same fervor she exemplified.

As we bid farewell to Sharon Ann Allstead, we celebrate a life richly lived and a legacy that will continue to inspire. Her memory will be cherished, her lessons remembered, and her spirit will forever be a guiding light for her family and all who knew her. Sharon's departure leaves a void, but also a treasure trove of memories that will be fondly revisited in the stories we share and the history she loved so dearly.

Sharon's life was a testament to the enduring power of love, the value of education, and the importance of standing firm in one's beliefs. As we honor her memory, let us remember the joy she found in every day, the strength she demonstrated in every challenge, and the love she bestowed upon us all. May she rest in peace, knowing she has left an indelible mark on the world and in the hearts of those who loved her.
