Obituary

On December 12th, 2024, Shannon Marie Smith-Malinowski, took her last breath surrounded by her husband, Mark Malinowski, Sisters and loved ones at the Angela Hospice House in Livonia, Michigan.

Born just steps from the Atlantic Ocean in Dayton Beach, Florida on September 11th, 1983, Shannon Marie Smith-Malinowski was an instant blessing to her parents and family. Her adoration and love of the ocean continued throughout her life. A lover of the beach, Shannon found solace in the rhythm of the waves and joy in discovering unique rocks and shells to add to her collection.

Shannon's youth was spend in New Jersey, basking at the beach, playing with her sisters and cousins, spending time as your typical teen- testing the limits. Throughout her adventures she made some incredible friends and memories that kept her smiling for many years. She was an incredible sister who provided love and stability for her younger siblings, her devotion to their happiness and safety never went unnoticed.

Shannon devoted many years of her life caregiving to many family members in their time of sickness and injury. A steadfast symbol of her compassion and kindness.

After moving to Michigan to care for her grandmother, Shannon planted new roots and would begin her passion for mechanical exploration. Her best friend and father, Robert Smith, instilled a great appreciation for independence and mechanical capabilities. The years those two spent under a hood and drop light will always be remembered.

Shannon received additional education at the Wayne County Community College, working towards a degree as an auto technician. The schooling she received alongside the hands on training with her father made Shannon a master of many things. Her willingness to help those around her was a shining party of her personality.

Shannon worked as a machinest, in metal fabrication, hot stamping, even as an overhead crane operator. Her work ethic, stamina, and perfectionism led her to quickly outshine most of the men in her plant, She was an unstoppable force of power.

When Shannon and Mark met, the quickly fell in love and bonded over their shared interests. Sports, nightlife, and FOOTBALL! They enjoyed their time together and have spent many of nights cheering for their teams to win! Shannon and Mark brought out the best in eachother and they formed a bond that was special and unending. They supported eachother as life continued, through good times and difficult ones, they never gave up.

Shannon was a dedicated Mother to two incredible boys, Tyler Glen (17) and Ethan Henry Robert(10). Her years spent as a mother were her happiest. The future of her strength and intelligence will live on in them. The love and affection she poured into her sons is unimaginable and will never fade.

A lover of sunsets, moonlight night, stars and all the beauty God has created on earth, Shannon and her family shared a love of crystal and rock hunting. Traveling far and wide to find and collect the raw beauty of the earth. She was able to find the beauty and comedy of life. She was able to navigate out of any difficult situation and bring her flock of people with her.

Shannon was was predeceased by her Mother, Lori ann Russo, Step-father Frank Szablowski, Grandmothers Fanny Markey, Faye Smith and Patricia Kelly; Grandfather Gennero Russo.

She is survived by her Husband, Mark Joseph Malinowski; her sons, Tyler Glen Hoagland and Ethan Henry Robert Malinowski; Grandfather Edward Smith; father, Robert Glenn Smith; Her sisers Samantha Mae(Michael Koslowski), Sarah Rose (Jason Flateau) ; Nephews, Sean , Dylan and Conner, several incredible cousins; and a network of friends who are family.

We are gathering in her honor at Uht Funeral Home on December 21, 2024 at 1pm, all are welcome.
