Selmer Dean Stacy, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather and friend, passed away on April 28, 2026, at the age of 94. Born on January 23, 1932, Dean filled his years with love, music, and a passion for life that will be remembered by all who knew him.Dean's heart belonged to Ruth, the greatest love of his life. Their paths first crossed when he moved to Michigan and boarded at her grandmother's house, just next door to Ruth's home. They were married in January of 1955 and shared a wonderful marriage that lasted until Ruth's passing in 2019. Dean never wavered in his love and devotion to Ruth, a bond that will continue to resonate through their family. As a proud Army veteran, Dean served his country with honor. Following his service, he dedicated 30 years to his career at Dow Chemical Company before embracing retirement in 1983, enjoying more years of leisure than he had spent working. His contributions were deeply valued, and his legacy at Dow will remain.Dean had a profound love for music, especially country music, which he often declared was the only music worth playing. He delighted in playing the guitar and later the bass in a band, bringing joy to others through his musical talent. In addition to music, Dean was an avid reader, particularly passionate about learning all he could about World War II, and this knowledge enriched his conversations and connections with those around him.Dean leaves behind a loving family: his daughters, Debbie (Larry) Baker, Tammy (Gary) Gaspas; his sons, Gary(Vivian) and Larry (Toni) Stacy; and grandchildren Mike (Kelly) Strickler, Stacy (Jason) Overton, Mandy (Chris) Hermanns, Rob (Stacy) Stacy, Kellie (Seth) Tidy, Sarah (Jason) Czubachowski, Keith (Debbie) Stacy, and Danielle (Nicole) Brumbley. He is survived by several beloved great-grandchildren: Caitlyn, Carson, Emmi, Gage, Zoey, Nathan, Abbi, Ryan, and Kayla, as well as many great-great-grandchidlren. Each of their lives carries a piece of his spirit and legacy.Dean Stacy lived a life filled with love, laughter, and music, and though he will be profoundly missed, his spirit will remain in the hearts of those he cherished. May he rest in peace, surrounded by the melodies of his beloved country songs.Dean was preceded in death by wife, Ruth Stacy, and Brothers, O'Dell Stacy and Don Stacy.Music was Dean's passion. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Instruments for Education.
