Obituary

Robert John Weibel (Bob), 95, of Westland, MI, passed away on July 2, 2026 at Trinity Health Livonia (St Mary's Hospital). Bob was born on October 14, 1930 in Ann Arbor, MI to Ralph and Myrtle (Bills) Weibel. He is survived by his son, John; and daughter-in-law, Ann Marie; and their son, Austin. Preceded in death by his parents and younger brother James (Jim),

Bob graduated from Wayne Memorial High School, ran track at University of Michigan in the 1950's, and served in the US Army during the Korean War. He worked primarily as a freelance technical writer focusing primarily in the Automotive industry. He was very active in community theater, as a performer, director and tech, including traveling for competitions (CTAM). He was also an avid golfer, having played nearly all of Michigan's courses, was active in several golf leagues over the years, and was most recently the secretary of the Holliday Park Golf League. He also knew his way around a sailboat, and sailed well into his 70's.

Visitation will be held at 11am on July 17th at Uht funeral home, 35400 Glenwood, Westland, MI, service at 1pm with burial to follow at Cadillac Gardens.

Throughout his life, Bob made many donations to multiple causes and charities. In recent years, he was particularly concerned by the treatment of the Indigenous Peoples of North America.
