Obituary

Robert Edward Godin, a cherished son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2024, in Redford, Michigan, at the age of 63. Born on May 21, 1961, in Wayne, Michigan, Robert was a beacon of kindness and love throughout his life. He was predeceased by his parents, Robert Godin and Sandra Walton, his brother, Anthony L. Godin, and nephew, Nicholas Landry.

Robert's early years laid a strong foundation for a life characterized by service and skill. After graduating from high school, he proudly served his country as a radar technician in the United States Navy. His time in the service was marked by dedication and a work ethic that he carried throughout his life. Robert's military career not only shaped his professional abilities but also instilled in him a sense of discipline and camaraderie that he valued deeply.

Upon returning to civilian life, Robert continued to demonstrate his knack for solving problems and fixing anything that came his way. He was the family's "guardian angel," always ready to lend a hand or offer a solution. His ability to repair and improve was not just a skill but a way of connecting with and caring for those around him.

Robert's interests were as diverse as they were engaging. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as swimming in his pool and riding his electric bike. A lover of cars, he could often be found tinkering with engines or discussing the latest models. His annual family trips to Florida were a highlight, providing cherished memories and laughter that will be held dear by his loved ones.

Beyond his hobbies, Robert's character was defined by his inherent kindness and loving nature. He was the nicest man who would do anything for anyone, touching the lives of many with his generosity and warmth. His presence was a comfort, and his actions were a testament to his caring spirit.

Robert's family was the cornerstone of his life. He is survived by his sisters, Catherine (Thomas) Schmenk and Theresa Knight; his niece, Melissa Landry; and his nephew, Ian Knight. His best friend, Mark Fritz, will also feel the absence of Robert's steadfast companionship and unwavering support.

Those who knew Robert will remember him as a man who was not only kind, loving, and handy but also as someone who brought light and love into every room he entered. His legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, and the many lives he touched with his gentle spirit.

Robert's life was a testament to the impact one person can have through acts of kindness and a willingness to help others. As we say goodbye to this remarkable man, we take comfort in knowing that his spirit will continue to guide and inspire us. Robert Edward Godin will be deeply missed, but his memory will forever be a blessing to all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A memorial service for Robert will take place at a later date. Information will be added once available.
