It is with heavy hearts yet joyful memories that we announce the passing of Robert James Arbour, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who departed from this world on May 16, 2026, at the age of 80. Born on October 26, 1945, in Owosso, Michigan, Robert was a true gem in the lives of all who knew him.
A devoted husband, Robert met the love of his life, Mary, at a lively party in their 20s. They married on December 6, 1968, and shared a beautiful life together filled with laughter and love until her passing in 2009. Now, their reunion brings comfort to all who remember their enduring bond.
Robert was a talented goldsmith, dedicating over 50 years of his life to the craft at Leo's Jewelry and Gifts in downtown Wayne, and also the proud owner of his own shop, Crystal Diamond Setters, in Plymouth. His artistry shone through every piece he created, leaving a legacy in the hearts of his clients and colleagues.
Family was Robert's greatest joy. He cherished every moment spent with his sons, Robert, and David (Kimberly), and his grandchildren, Quinn (Alisha) and Devyn. His love extended to his siblings: brothers Michael (Rayne) and Ronald (Tracey), and sister Mary (John) Meinken, all of whom will carry his warmth and teachings forward.
Beyond his professional life, Robert had a passion for cooking and a love for exploring the skies and waters. He was an avid enthusiast of planes and boats, enjoying airshows and weekends on his cabin cruiser on beautiful Lake Huron. He also cherished adventure, being an active member of the Can-U-Canoe group, where he made lasting memories through camping, white-water rafting, canoeing, and tubing with his friends.
Known for his sociable nature and charming flirtation, Robert kept his door open, always ready to lend a helping hand. Those whose lives he touched remember him as a humble, grateful soul, lovingly stubborn in his ways.
As we bid farewell to Robert James Arbour, let us remember the love he shared and the joy he brought into our lives. He is now at peace, reunited with his beloved Mary.
Robert was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Arbour, and parents, Ronald and Helen Arbour.
