Obituary

Richard Wayne Todd, a cherished soul known for his loving nature and dry sense of humor, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2025, at the age of 73, in Taylor, Michigan. Born on April 13, 1952, in Ypsilanti, Michigan, Richard's journey was one marked by the joy he brought to others, the love he shared with his family, and the laughter he spread through his sarcasm and wit.

Richard's life was a testament to his compassionate spirit and his innate ability to light up any room he entered. His laughter was infectious, and his proclivity for sarcasm was matched only by the warmth of his heart. Those who knew Richard will remember him as a man who was not only funny but also deeply loving, characteristics that endeared him to many.

On December 30, 1993, Richard married the love of his life, Debra, whom he met through mutual friends. Their union was one built on mutual respect, laughter, and an unshakeable bond that stood the test of time. Together, they raised a family that included their children: Thomas Todd, Tyler Todd, Carrie (Tim) Carden, and the late Kelly Rafferty.

Richard's role as a grandfather was one he cherished deeply. He took immense pride in his grandchildren, Anthony Amir, Wyatt Carden, Wade Carden, and Timothy "TJ" Carden Jr., always eager to share in their lives and celebrate their milestones. His legacy further blossomed with the birth of his great-grandchildren, Adin, Nevaeh, Jayden, and Ava, each of whom brought him immense joy.

Preceded in death by his parents, William and Carmen Todd, Richard is survived by his loving wife, Debra; his children; his grandchildren; his great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Roy (Kathy) Todd and Judy Blanchard. Each family member carries forward a piece of Richard's spirit, continuing the traditions of love and laughter he instilled in them.

Richard's professional life was marked by a dedicated 30-year career with General Motors, where he not only excelled but also formed lasting friendships and associations. His commitment to his work was paralleled by his enjoyment lending a helping hand.

A man of many interests, Richard lived life to the fullest. He relished the freedom of riding his motorcycle, the camaraderie of gatherings with friends, and the joy of being a perpetual joker. His humor was a gift he generously shared, ensuring that those around him were never without a smile.

Richard Wayne Todd's legacy is not merely in the roles he fulfilled but in the love he gave and the joy he spread. His memory will be treasured by those who were fortunate enough to know him, and his stories will be told with laughter and fondness for generations to come. Though he has departed from this world, his spirit remains a guiding light for his family and friends, reminding them always to live with compassion, to cherish each moment, and to never miss an opportunity for a good-hearted jest.
