Patricia Marie
Stoner
February 15, 1947 – January 14, 2025
Patricia Marie "Patti" Stoner, age 77, a beacon of light and love, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2025, in Wayne, Michigan. Born on February 15, 1947, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Edwin and Noreen Young, both of whom predeceased her, Patti's life was a testament to the power of joy, intellect, and unwavering love.
Patti's heart found its match in Richard "Rick" Stoner, whom she met at a lively college party. Their souls intertwined, leading to a marriage on January 6, 1968, that blossomed for nearly six decades. The couple's devotion to one another was evident to all who knew them, and they often shared that they were made for each other.
A proud mother and grandmother, Patti's legacy lives on through her children: Alison (David) Nameika and Thomas (Jessica) Stoner; as well as her adored grandchildren: Charlotte, Ava, Ella, Jacob, and the late Moira Mae. Her nurturing spirit extended to her siblings, Penelope (Paul) Schreiber, Mary (the late Badron) Fileta, Christopher (Rebecca) Young, and Andrew (Andrea Frodema) Young, along with her brother Daniel Young, who predeceased her. Patti's warmth and generosity also touched her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, who will miss her deeply.
Patti's educational journey began at Waterford Kettering High School and continued at Eastern Michigan University, where she not only found her life partner but also cultivated her passion for knowledge and service. Her professional life was marked by her dedication as a family/parent coordinator at Headstart, where she was a fierce advocate for the families in her care. Later, Patti retired from Barnes & Noble as a manager and book sales coordinator, where she continued to inspire a love of reading in others.
Patti's interests and passions were as vibrant as her personality. She lit up every room she entered and was a fierce debater, armed with the knowledge to support her convictions. Her family would often humorously claim she was "never wrong even when she was wrong." A lover of all things Michigan, from its lakes to its rich history, Patti's heart belonged to her home state. Her affinity for felines was matched only by her skill as a Life Master Bridge Player, an accomplishment earned through her competitive spirit in tournaments.
An avid reader and lifelong learner, Patti was a strong advocate for reading and education. She outsmarted many a Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune contestant from the comfort of her home. Her adventures took her on travels and camping excursions, and she never missed an opportunity to dance. Though she often eschewed technology, her Nook E-reader was the exception, allowing her to indulge in her passion for books.
Patti's feisty, stubborn, loving, and generous nature made her unforgettable to all who were fortunate enough to cross her path. She was also a great cook, delighting in the joy of feeding others. Her love and generosity radiated through her actions and the care she showed to her family and friends.
As we bid farewell to Patricia Marie Stoner, we celebrate a life richly lived and filled with love. Her spirit, wisdom, and the joy she brought to every encounter will continue to inspire and guide us. Patti's memory will be cherished and kept alive in the stories shared, the lessons taught, and the love she gave so freely. Her light, though no longer with us in body, will forever shine in the hearts of those she touched.
