Obituary

Nancy Lee Kemp Esper, a beacon of warmth and joy, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2025, in Waterford, MI, at the age of 76. Born on November 21, 1948, in Ann Arbor, MI, Nancy's vibrant spirit and nurturing soul touched everyone she met.

A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, Nancy's enduring love and care for her family were the hallmarks of her life. She found her soulmate in Robert Esper, with whom she shared a life of love and partnership since meeting in 1995 and marrying in 2006. Together, they built a family rooted in compassion and laughter. Nancy's legacy lives on through her children, Thor Lounsbery (Marie), Robert Esper (Kelly), Brian Esper (Tara), and Maria May (Matt). Each of her children carries a piece of her unwavering strength and kindness.

The cherished daughter of Louis and Mildred (Rendel) Kemp, Nancy grew up alongside her sisters Linda Seiler, Janet Kemp, and the late Joan Kay. She nurtured her siblings with the same love and dedication she would later bestow upon her own family. Her role as a grandmother to Shelby, Emily, Scott, Ethan, Patrick, and Luke, was one she embraced with unparalleled joy; their lives have been forever brightened by her love and guidance. She was also a dedicated great grandmother to her four great grandchildren.

Nancy's professional life was marked by her devotion to caring for others. Her 40 years as a registered nurse, fortified by her Bachelor's degree in nursing, allowed her to touch countless lives with her healing hands and compassionate heart. Her dedication to her faith was evident in her daily life and interactions, as she embodied the Christian values of love, kindness, and service. She really enjoyed attending church affiliated activities.

Nancy had an infectious enthusiasm for life. Her love of travel, even if just short distances, spoke to her adventurous spirit. The color yellow, a symbol of her bright and cheerful nature, was her favorite, as were the flowers she adored receiving. Dining out with loved ones and engaging in spirited games of cards were among her favorite pastimes.

Nancy's interest in birds was not only a hobby but a reflection of her own free spirit. Her two exotic birds were her cherished companions, adding to the chorus of joy within her home. Her grandchildren, in particular, were the light of her existence. She poured her love into their lives, shaping their futures with her wisdom and compassion.

As we say goodbye to Nancy Lee Kemp Esper, we celebrate a life lived in full color, with open arms and an open heart. Her presence will be profoundly missed, but her spirit will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her. Nancy's journey on earth may have concluded, but the love she shared will resonate for generations to come.
