Obituary

Millie Marie Bishop said her final farewells to us Earth dwellers on May 7th, 2023, choosing instead to embrace the love of her life, Charles Bishop, in the heavenly planes. Millie lived a life full of faith, trials, love, laughter and warmth. Millie was born on November 30th, 1947 and grewup in Romulus, MI- just down the street from the man she would soon fall in love with, marry and then create a beautiful family together with. Millie was the wife of Charles Murray Bishop,(deceased) the loving mother of Charley Bolivar Bishop II, Paul Charles Bishop (deceased),Carlos and Dorinda Bishop (both passed in infancy); as well as the loving grandmother to 12+ grandchildren and 20+ great grandchildren as she was a grandmother to more than just those whose DNA she happened to share. Millie was the sort of woman whose mere presence brought comfort and strength to those around her- she was the shoulder you could cry on, the one you could call for mouthwatering cooking or recipe tips, the person with just the right book recommendations, a "Jill of all Trades" decorating cakes, making floral arrangements, kicking butt at tennis, bowling, Zelda or Mahjong. Millie knew just the right moments to make you laugh, to give you a firm talking to or to hug you in an embrace so full and warm it seemed far too encompassing for a woman her size and frame. Millie was the most amazingly inspiring woman of the home whilst also carrying a fiery and courageous spirit of stubbornness and strength.

When asked to describe Millie and her life, those who have had the honor and privilege of loving and being loved by Millie recount her caring nature, her willingness to give and provide for others, and just how beautiful she was both inside and out. To have known Millie is to have known sunshine; to have known Millie is to have known the work horse determined to finish the job; to have known Millie is to have watched "Happy Days" and "I Love Lucy;" to have seen Millie is to have your own private showing of "Starry Night"-

Millie was smart, beautiful, and to say she was one of a kind would be an understatement. She will be loved and remembered always. Her warm legacy will be both missed and carried on by those of us who have been blessed to call her "mom," "grandma," "grams," "grammies," sister and friend.
