Michele Renae
Hunt
June 28, 1967 – May 8, 2024
On May 8, 2024, Michele went to be with her Lord in heaven after valiantly fighting for more time with her family and friends. She was born on June 28, 1967 in Ypsilanti, Michigan to Kenneth and Comelia Hunt.
Michele graduated from John Glenn High School in 1985 and obtained a bachelor's degree from Lee University in Tennessee. While at Lee College, she played on the University softball team where her competitive and playful nature shined through.
Michele taught 6th grade in the Wayne-Westland Community School District for 34 years at both Marshall and Franklin Middle Schools. She loved teaching and learning. She was devoted to her students - bringing out the best in them by providing an environment of support and encouragement and inspiring them to dream big. In her classroom, she nurtured them to treat each other with kindness and respect. There is no doubt that Michele ignited many sparks of light, love, and happiness in the students she fondly called "her kids."
For many years, she coached boys' and girls' sports including track, basketball, soccer, and volleyball, instilling sportsmanship, teamwork and pride in their effort, regardless of the final score.
Beyond teaching academics, Michele ensured that her students' personal needs were met whether it meant providing a compliment, breakfast snacks, a listening ear, a funny joke or riddle, a pair of shoes or school supplies.
Michele was compassionate, generous, faithful, forgiving and above all, she was kind. Outside of school, she loved playing poker, golfing, music, sports, concerts, and hanging out with friends and family. Though fiercely competitive, she was always a good sport. Her life was filled with laughter and good times. She loved and was deeply loved.
MIchele's deep faith in God came from her mother. She studied the Bible, taught Sunday school, played in the band at church, joyfully sang gospel songs, and had a personal relationship with Jesus. She lived her faith, and goodness and kindness followed her.
Michele will be greatly missed by her spouse Annette and her extended family.
Michele was preceded in death by her mother Comelia. She is survived by her father Kenneth and sister Kendra (Stephen).
Michele was the fun "Aunt Shelly" who brought immense love and joy to her many nieces and nephews including Stephanie (Brandon), Christian and Natasha "Deego" and her great nieces and nephews, Abigail, Everleigh "Birdy", Grayson and Cole.
Please honor Michele's memory by doing something kind today.
