Michael A. Courtney was born on August 13, 1946 in Nankin Township, Michigan. He passed away on September 11, 2021 at the age of 75 in Westland, Michigan. Michael is survived by long time partner and friend, Cathy Nitowski; two Brothers, David Courtney, William Courtney; step-daughter, TIffany (Rick) Thaxton; Toni; granddaughter, Madelyn Thaxton; Aunt Ruth; Uncle Lyle. He is preceded in death by father, Irvin Courtney and mother, Lucille Norene Courtney. Michael worked as a lawyer for over 35 years. Michael had an avid green thumb. He had a greenhouse where he tended to hundred of plants, from orchids, cacti, and birds of paradise to name a few. He had an immense appreciation for nature in general. Michael had a fascination with geckos, birds, fish, and various types of insects. He was a collector of whatever he had his mind on in that time, like birds and dress ties to name a couple. He was an auction lover where he and Cathy would attend and load up on different items every weekend, even if they didn't need anything. In recent years, Michael became close couch-buddies with their dog, Atticus. Michael was loved by many and will be dearly missed.
