Obituary

Mary Katherine Rockwell (Kathie), a beacon of warmth and friendliness, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2025, at her residence in Kalkaska, Michigan. Born on September 21, 1941, in Jackson, Michigan, to the late Robert and Mildred Fisher, Kathie lived a life characterized by faith, friendship, and an unwavering commitment to her community.

Kathie's early years were filled with the love and guidance of her parents. Her journey led her to her love with Delvyn "Dale" Rockwell, with whom she shared a marriage until his passing in February 2014. Together, they created a beautiful family, including their caring daughter, Cherrie (Scott) Morgan, and their devoted son, Dale Rockwell.

Kathie's heart was large enough to encompass not only her immediate family but also her cherished granddaughter, Shela (Jarrod) Jones, and her adored grandson, Shawn (Tayler) Morgan. Her joy multiplied with the arrival of her great-grandchildren, Connor, Linsey, and

Ember, who brought her immeasurable happiness.

Kathie was the epitome of dedication and service. She dedicated the early chapters of her life to her family, embodying the role of a stay-at-home mom with grace and devotion. As her children grew, she was active on the City Council in Wayne, Michigan, contributing her voice and effort to the causes she believed in. Her colleagues and the many community members she interacted with benefited from her professionalism and friendly nature. Kathie's commitment to her community was evident in the meticulous care she gave to every task and the positive atmosphere she fostered within the civic sphere.

Kathie's faith was the cornerstone of her existence, and her involvement with her church community was a testament to her faith-filled life. She poured her heart into various church activities, sharing her light and joy with everyone she met. Her steadfast presence was a comfort to many, and her contributions to the church's mission left an indelible mark that will be cherished for generations to come.

Those who knew Kathie will fondly remember her love for cooking and baking, a passion that

was an expression of her desire to nurture and care for others. She never missed an

opportunity to feed her loved ones or any new friends she encountered. Kathie's social

personality was infectious, and her ability to make friends everywhere she went was a

testament to her friendly and approachable nature.

In later years, Kathie found solace and joy at her cottage in Central Lake, Michigan. There,

she spent cherished moments fishing and relaxing, embracing the tranquility of nature. This

retreat provided her with a sanctuary where she could reflect on her life's blessings and create lasting memories with her adored grandchildren.

Mary Katherine Rockwell will be remembered as a faith-filled and friendly soul who touched the

lives of many. Her legacy is one of love, kindness, and community service. She was a woman

whose spirit could not be confined to mere words, as her impact was felt through her actions

and the lives she enriched.

As we bid farewell to Kathie, we celebrate a life well-lived, a journey marked by devotion to

family, faith, and friendship. Her memory will continue to inspire and guide those who were

fortunate enough to have known her. Kathie's presence will be dearly missed, yet her spirit will

live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all those she embraced with her kindness.
