Marilyn Joyce
Kolehmainen
December 4, 1962 – March 11, 2025
Marilyn Kolehmainen, a beacon of kindness and generosity, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2025, in Farmington Hills, Michigan. Born on December 4, 1962, in Wayne, Michigan, Marilyn's life was a testament to her loving spirit and nurturing heart. Marilyn was a devoted mother to her three sons, Garrett (Brynn), Aaron, and Chad Kolehmainen. She found joy in the simple moments spent with her grandchildren, Serenity, Levi, and Mila, who will miss their grandmother's warmth and laughter. Marilyn's siblings, David Seward, Laura (Steve) Levine, James Jodsaas, and Mary (Scott) Henderson, along with many nieces and nephews, will remember her presence that lit up any room. Marilyn was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Brian P. Kolehmainen, and her siblings, Janice Rodriguez, Susan Jodsaas, and Beverly Trader. Her parents, Arnold Jodsaas and Bessie Jodsaas, also preceded her in death. Marilyn's educational journey included completing a certificate in becoming a nurse aide and graduating from cosmetology school. Her career as a nurse aide was marked by years of compassionate care, especially during her time in hospice, where she comforted countless individuals with her nurturing touch. Her colleagues will remember her for her selflessness and dedication to those in her care. Outside of her professional life, Marilyn's interests painted a picture of a woman who embraced life with open arms. Her caring and outgoing nature was evident in her ability to connect with animals and her talent in reviving plants with her green thumb. She found solace in nature and was known for her positive outlook, even during tough times. Marilyn's creative side shone through in her painted ceramic figurines and needlepoint work, and her humor and charm never failed to bring smiles to those around her. In her younger years, Marilyn was an active participant in sports, demonstrating that her small stature was no match for her larger-than-life personality. She had a knack for taking charge and making everyone feel at home, always ensuring that nobody left hungry. Her nieces and nephews fondly regarded her as the "Fun Aunt," a title she wore with pride. Those who knew Marilyn will remember her as the epitome of kindness, generosity, and love. Her legacy is one of selfless giving and boundless affection, traits that have indelibly marked the lives of her family and friends. As we bid farewell to Marilyn Kolehmainen, we celebrate a life lived with purpose and joy. Her memory will continue to inspire us to be kind to one another, to nurture the beauty in the world, and to face each day with a generous heart and a cheerful spirit. Marilyn's life reminds us that the most profound impact we can have is to love and be loved in return. Marilyn's family will hold a private ceremony to honor her life and the profound impact she had on those around her. She will be laid to rest beside her parents, in a place where the beauty of nature that she so adored can continue to surround her. Marilyn's passing leaves a void in the hearts of all who were privileged to know her, but her spirit will live on through the countless lives she touched with her extraordinary compassion. Though she may be gone from our sight, the essence of who she was-a kind, generous, and loving soul-will never be forgotten.
