Obituary

Margaret Pearl Bennett, a beacon of love and kindness, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2024, at the age of 86 in Garden City, Michigan. Born on August 8, 1938, in Detroit, Michigan, Margaret's life was a testament to the power of selflessness and the joy of family.

Margaret was the cherished daughter of the late Joseph and Mabel Schaffer. She grew up in a lively household with her brothers Tom (Margaret) Schaffer, the late Bill (the late Marjorie) Schaffer, Ernie (Linda) Schaffer, and Fred (Kendra) Schaffer, all of whom inherited the family's warmth and generosity.

In her youth, Margaret's radiant smile and caring nature drew the attention of Robert Bennett, whom she would later marry. Together, they built a life founded on love and mutual respect. Although Robert preceded her in passing, their love story continues to inspire their family.

Margaret's legacy is lovingly carried on by her children: Timothy Bennett, Rebecca (Jim) Curtis, the late Christine (the late David) Adams, Mary Bennett, Patricia (John) Gillette, and David Bennett. She was a devoted mother who instilled in her children the values of compassion and kindness.

Her grandchildren, Caitlyn, Erin (Jared), Alyssa, Ashley, Maggie, Emma, James, Molly, Jacob (Raquel), Jennifer, and Jessica, and great-grandchildren, Joanna and Tobias, will forever cherish the memories of their grandmother's unwavering support and the joy she brought to their lives.

Margaret's faith was an integral part of her life. She was a long-standing member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Westland, where she found great solace and community. Her love for Disney was more than just a pastime; it was a reflection of her belief in magic and the importance of keeping one's inner child alive.

An avid University of Michigan Wolverine fan, Margaret's enthusiasm for the team was infectious. The friendly family rivalry with Spartans and Buckeyes supporters made game days an event to remember, filled with laughter and spirited debates.

Margaret's hobbies included cross-stitching, which she pursued with the same patience and attention to detail that she applied to all aspects of her life. Her hands were rarely still, as she was always creating, playing card games with family and friends, or lending a helping hand to those in need.

Her love for music, especially the harmonies of choirs, resonated deeply with Margaret. She participated in musical activities whenever she could, sharing her joy for song with those around her.

Margaret's life was a living example of the words that best describe her: loving, kind, and selfless. She touched the lives of many, always putting others before herself and spreading kindness wherever she went.

As we say goodbye to Margaret Pearl Bennett, we celebrate the profound impact she had on our lives. Her spirit, characterized by boundless love and generosity, will continue to guide and inspire us. Margaret's memory will be cherished and kept alive in the hearts of all who knew her.

Margaret's family takes comfort in knowing that she has been reunited with her beloved husband, Robert, her daughter Christine, and other family members who have passed before her. Her light, though no longer present in this world, will never fade from the lives she touched.

Margaret's life will be honored in a private ceremony, surrounded by those who loved her most. Her story does not end with her passing but lives on through the love she shared and the lives she enriched. May she rest in peace, knowing she was dearly loved and will be deeply missed.
