Lynn Walker
Stevens
September 29, 1963 – March 10, 2024
Lynn Walker Stevens, a beacon of laughter and love, bid her final adieu on March 10, 2024, leaving a legacy of joy in the hearts of those who knew her. Born on September 29, 1963, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Lynn's life was a vibrant journey that began with a spark of creativity and an infectious giggle that echoed through the years.
Lynn, who strutted onto the stage of life and never missed a beat, passed away in Dearborn Heights, Michigan, surrounded by the stories and memories she crafted so beautifully. To say Lynn was funny would be an understatement; she was the life of every party, the mastermind behind every chuckle, and the unofficial queen of crafting fun out of thin air. Her friends knew her as the go-to for a good laugh, and her family treasured her as the mom who could turn a rainy day into an indoor carnival.
As valedictorian of her 2010 college graduating class, Lynn wasn't just a hoot; she was as sharp as the needles she used to craft those fabulous outfits for her daughters. With an associate degree in science tucked under her arm, she proved that brains and a sense of humor could, indeed, coexist harmoniously.
Lynn was a loving wife to Mark Stevens, a role she embraced with the same passion she applied to every hand-sewn costume and every carefully sketched portrait. Her daughters, Sarah (married to Russell Childs) Laird and the late Emily Laird, were the apples of her eye, and she poured her love into them like she poured her soul into her art.
Survived by her mother, Florence Walker, her sister, Laura (partner in crime to Andy Vancil) Walker, Lynn leaves behind a legacy of laughter and a blueprint for living life to the fullest. Her presence was a warm embrace, a witty quip, and a reminder that life is best served with a side of giggles. She was predeceased by her father, Hugh Slocum, her brother, Skylar Walker, and her daughter, Emily Laird, who I'm sure were waiting with open arms and the best seats in the house for her grand entrance.
Lynn's life was a canvas, and she painted it with the vibrant colors of her personality: funny, friendly, and loving. She was a mother not only to her children but to everyone who needed one, doling out care with the same ease she doodled her delightful drawings. Lynn's artistry wasn't just in her crafts or her sketches; it was in the way she wove her spirit into the fabric of our lives.
So here's to Lynn Walker Stevens, the woman who could find the funny in the mundane, whose laughter was the melody to which we all danced, and whose memory will forever be a masterpiece in the gallery of our hearts. Curtain down, applause roaring, and in the spotlight, a life beautifully lived. Lynn, take a bow.
A memorial service will be planned for a later date.
