With deep love and gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the passing of Lou Ann Hart, 86, of Garden City, Michigan. She passed away after a short illness on July 8, 2026.

Lou Ann was born on December 12, 1939, in Bryson City, North Carolina, to David and Nina Hall. She was the fifth of eight children and grew up enjoying outdoor adventures with her siblings and playing sports, especially basketball and softball.

In 1956, Lou Ann married the love of her life, Gene Hart. Together they moved north to Michigan, where they built a life, raised their family, and worked in the automotive industry. Lou Ann enjoyed a long retirement following a 30-year career with General Motors.

Lou Ann was an avid billiards player who was active in competitive leagues through the American Poolplayers Association and her local VFW. Through her joy of pool, Lou Ann fostered a large group of friends, a larger trophy collection, and family notoriety as a pool shark.

Lou Ann was an excellent cook, had a wonderful sense of style, and always found a great bargain while shopping for herself and her family.

Above all, Lou Ann was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was the family matriarch who was known for spoiling her family at every opportunity.

Lou Ann is survived by her daughter, Judith Gray (Mike Lenga); her son, John Hart; her grandchildren, Steven (Carly) Gray and Chelsie (Justin) Vorisek; her step-granddaughter, Sara Lenga; and her great-grandchildren, Violet and Gavin Vorisek.

She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Nina Hall; her husband, Gene Hart; and her siblings, Jean Cheek, Betty Sherrill, James, Bobby, and David Hall.

Lou Ann will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
