Lenora H.
Krieger
February 27, 1927 – June 12, 2024
Lenora H. Krieger, a beacon of warmth and spirited passion, passed away on June 12, 2024, in Wayne, Michigan. Born on February 27, 1927, in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, Lenora's life journey was marked by her friendly nature and unwavering energy. She was a cherished daughter to the late George and Lenore Kubant, and a loving sister to the late LaRue Benson and the late Georgette Kanyr.
Lenora's heart found its match in her high school sweetheart, the late Alan Krieger, with whom she shared a lifetime of love and companionship. Although they were not blessed with children of their own, Lenora and Alan opened their hearts to many, serving as surrogate parents to countless young individuals through their work with the DeMolay and Rainbow Girls organizations.
Her career was as diverse as her interests. During World War II, Lenora contributed to the war effort by working in the plants, showcasing her dedication and resilience. Later, she moved from Pittsburgh to Michigan with Kelsey-Hayes, where she continued to make a positive impact on her community. Lenora's commitment to service shone brightly through her many years as a Pink Lady volunteer at Annapolis Hospital, where she offered comfort and care to those in need.
Lenora's zest for life was reflected in her many hobbies. She was an avid Detroit Tigers baseball fan, cheering on her team with enthusiasm. Her love for cooking and gardening brought joy not only to her but also to those who had the pleasure of experiencing her culinary creations and beautiful garden. Lenora also found solace and expression in greenware pottery, crafting pieces that reflected her artistic spirit.
As a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Lenora's fellowship with others was steeped in tradition and community. Her faith was a cornerstone of her existence, and she was a long-time member of the First Methodist Church of Wayne, where she shared her light with all those around her.
Lenora's life was also marked by her love for her canine companions, Buddy I, II, and III, whom she cared for with great affection over the years. Her ability to nurture extended beyond people to all living creatures, further highlighting her compassionate nature.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and joy that will be carried on by her nieces and nephews: Patricia (James Stair II) McDaniel, Bob Kanyr, Winona Specht, Bill Krieger, Glen Krieger, Jim Krieger, and Bob Krieger. Her memory will also be cherished by her great-nieces Anne Schwartz and Emily McDaniel, as well as her great friends Claudia Rediske, Pat Wright, and Janet Townsend, who will miss her dearly.
Lenora's life was a testament to her friendly demeanor, spirited approach to life, and the passionate way she engaged with the world around her. Her presence was a gift to all who knew her, and her absence will be deeply felt.
As we bid farewell to Lenora K. Krieger, we celebrate the remarkable woman she was and the countless lives she touched. Her story does not end with her passing but continues in the hearts and memories of those who loved her. Lenora's spirit, like the eternal flame of a candle, will continue to illuminate the paths of those she has left behind.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Michigan Humane Society.
