Leah Esther
Spears
December 20, 1945 – October 19, 2025
Leah Esther Spears, a beacon of kindness and unwavering faith, passed away peacefully at her home on October 19, 2025, at the age of 79 in Wayne, Michigan. She was surrounded by those she loved. Born on December 20, 1945, in Mallory, West Virginia, Leah's infectious smile and generous spirit were her signatures from the very beginning. As a devoted mother, Leah's love knew no bounds. She is survived by her daughter, Tina Marie Darnell, and her boyfriend, Brian W. Kilgore; her daughter, Tamatha Wondella Watters, and her husband, Francis L. Watters; and her son, Guy Timothy Darnell. Her legacy of love continues through her cherished granddaughter, Beth Ann Darnell, whom she affectionately called her "Puddintang". Leah also leaves behind her beloved sister, Marion, who was not just a sibling but her dearest friend. She joins in heaven her brothers Frank, Jerry, Lonnie, Billy, Phillip, and Larry; her sisters Jackie, Deloris, Jenny, and Precilla; and her parents, Cecil Lonnie Spears and Eaythel Wondella Spears, who preceded her in death. Leah's professional life was marked by her dedication to others. She spent over a decade as a compassionate nurse's aide and a welcoming desk secretary. Later, she skillfully managed an apartment complex, where her warmth and efficiency made her a favorite among residents. Leah's work ethic and caring nature left an indelible mark on every life she touched. A woman of many passions, Leah's heart was always closest to home. She enjoyed a brief sojourn in Tennessee in her late 30's and her soul was truly tethered to the rolling hills of her farm, the beauty of her horses, and the melodies of country music. Her adoration for artists like Earl Thomas Conley and Elvis Presley was only rivaled by her affection for Tom Selleck, whose Westerns captured her imagination and inspired her dreams. Family gatherings often found Leah, the life of the party, impeccably dressed and ready to dance the night away, her laughter ringing out like a joyful melody. Her spirited nature was matched by her cuteness and caring demeanor, yet she was known for not taking sassiness from anyone-a testament to her strength and character. Above all, Leah was a woman of deep faith. Her belief in Jesus and the promise of Heaven was unwavering, and she took every opportunity to share the love of God with those around her. Her kind, loving, and gentle spirit was a source of comfort and inspiration, and her legacy of faith will be cherished by all who knew her. Leah's presence was a gift to her family, friends, and community. Her memory will be treasured as a reminder of the power of love, the joy of laughter, and the peace found in faith. As we bid farewell to Leah Esther Spears, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a soul that has undoubtedly found its eternal rest.
