Obituary

Lawrence (Larry) Jay Zuckerman (1938-2026) passed away peacefully on September 26, 2026, immersed in the comfort and care of his family in South Lyon, Michigan. Larry built a number of successful businesses in partnership with his brother, most notably the iconic Leo's Jewelry and Gifts and Mr. Stor-It, in Southeast Michigan. In 1961, he married his beloved wife, Dona, and together they raised two children, Susan and Eric. Throughout their 65 years of marriage, Larry lived his passion for providing for his family, keeping his home in fine repair, staying active, and being the best fisherman on Marco Island. A master of the dad joke and pun, Larry was quick-witted and kind-hearted. He was known for being generous and fair to family and friends. His love and support for his children and grandchildren was unwavering.

Larry is survived by his wife, Dona; his children Susan (James) Dixon and Eric; his grandchildren Michael Dixon and Julia (Mike) Juncaj; his twin great grandsons Rowan and Leo Juncaj; his brother David; and the family dogs Ruby Lou, Finn, Lola and Apollo. Larry was beloved by many sister- and brother-in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Leo and Dorothy.

Those who remember Larry will hold in their hearts his easy manner, big smile, and eagerness to lend a helping hand when needed. He was always happiest when sharing his love of fishing, a great meal, and traveling...especially big family trips. From long morning walks to making fishing rods for friends to Hallmark movies, Larry filled his days with what brought him peace.

Larry's family will hold a private family celebration of his life. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a charity close to Larry's heart, the Wounded Warriors Project, St. Jude's Children's Hospital or share an act of kindness to someone in need.
