Laura Jane
Hutchinson
May 16, 1946 – September 12, 2025
Laura Hutchinson, a cherished matriarch and beacon of warmth within her family and community, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2025, in Royal Oak, Michigan. Born on May 16, 1946, in Detroit, Michigan, Laura's life was a testament to the enduring power of love, family, and faith.
Laura's journey through life was one of devotion and generosity. She was the beloved wife of the late Walter Meyer and later, the late William Hutchinson, each chapter of her life brimming with shared happiness and mutual support. She was a nurturing mother to the late Mark Meyer and his wife Pam, to Kathy and her husband Randy Pattee, to Robert Hutchinson and his wife Patti, and to William Hutchinson. Her role as a sister was held with equal tenderness, lovingly connected to Charles and his wife Sarah Allison, Rebecca and her husband Bob Prince, the late Gregory Allison, David and his wife Julie Allison, the late Douglas and his wife Michelle Allison, Marjorie Allison, and Russell Allison. She was also a devoted grandmother to many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Laura's love knew no bounds, especially when it came to her grandchildren, for whom she was not only a grandmother but a guiding light and a source of endless comfort. The baby blankets she knitted for each new arrival were not just gifts of warmth but woven with the threads of her unending love.
Her hobbies and interests painted a picture of a woman who was as creative as she was caring. Sewing was not just a pastime but a way of leaving a tangible piece of her heart with her loved ones. Traveling was another passion, allowing Laura to explore and embrace the vast beauty of the world, experiences she cherished and often shared in stories with her family.
Laura's legacy is one of hard work and helping hands. She was often described as the glue of the family, someone who could always be relied upon for support, advice, or a shoulder to lean on. Her comforting presence was a solace to many, and her ability to help others through their troubles was a gift that she gave selflessly.
Her faith as a Catholic was a cornerstone of her existence, guiding her actions and her outlook on life. It was this faith that instilled in her the values of compassion and service, which she embodied every day.
Laura Hutchinson's life was a beautiful tapestry of love, dedication, and kindness. While her physical presence will be deeply missed, her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched. Her memory will be a guiding force, a reminder of the beauty of a life well-lived and the enduring power of love. As we bid farewell to Laura, we celebrate the profound impact she had on our lives, and we take solace in knowing that her legacy will continue to inspire and comfort us in the years to come.
