Judy (Hodge) Shackelford, age 80, of Wayne, Michigan, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2026.

Born on August 2, 1945, in Detroit, MI, Judy was the beloved daughter of the late Adeline and Robert Shackelford. She was the oldest of eight siblings: Joan Samuelson (John), Dick Shackelford (Lori), Gary Shackelford (Susan), Bob Shackelford (Beverly), Jill Grauzer (Dave), Janis Hadcock (Randy), and Matthew Shackelford (Cheryl) and the proud aunt of twelve nieces and nephews.

She was a proud graduate of St. Mary's of Wayne, Valedictorian of the Class of 1963, and later earned her degree from Wayne State University in 1997 — a testament to her lifelong commitment to learning and personal growth.

Judy dedicated many years of her professional life to the healthcare industry, where her intelligence, compassion, and steady presence positively impacted those she served. She was known for her sharp mind, thoughtful insight, and deep empathy for others.

An avid reader and talented at many crafts, including knitting and jewelry making, Judy found joy in both quiet reflection and creative expression. She was passionate about human rights and social justice, holding strong convictions rooted in fairness, dignity, and care for others. She loved to travel, explore new places, and most of all, spend cherished time with her family.

Judy will be remembered as extraordinarily intelligent, deeply kind, and profoundly empathetic — someone who listened carefully, loved generously, and stood firmly for what she believed in.
