Joseph Taylor passed away on January 19, 2023 at the age of 99 in Livonia, Michigan. He was born on December 27, 1923 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late Jospeh and the late Louise Taylor. Joseph was the beloved husband of Beulah Taylor. They had been married just shy of 14 years this Valentine's day. He was the loving father of Jantzen (Bob) Meyeres, Eugene (Evangeline) Edwards, Jaquelyn (Ben) Bracy, and Enoch Edwards. Dear grandfather of Terrell (Heather) Jason, Tiara (Johan) Ruana, Johnathan (Nicole) Meyers, Joshua (Janeen) Meyers, Eugene (Nicole) Edwards, III, Elonda Edwards, Michael (Shy) Johnson, Christen Johnson, and the late Juan Jason. Adored great-grandfather of 14.
Joseph was a proud military veteran having served in the Army during WWII as a clerk. He enjoyed educating people and tell his experiences in Normandy on D-Day. After serving his country, he went to collage and earned his Master's degree in education and taught high school social studies in Philadelphia for many years. When Joseph turned 50, he decided to go back to school and earn a PhD in Theology at Palmer Theological Seminary. He was then a respected Pastor in the Presbyterian community and was Pastor of the Gratiot Memorial Church. Joseph was a choir member in Plymouth, Michigan and looked forward to their yearly concerts. He also began to train for and run marathons in Philadelphia.
Joseph was an accomplished author. He wrote inspirational devotion books and, at the time of his passing, he was in the process of writing his autobiography. He enjoyed writing sermons.
