Obituary

Joseph R. Stella, a cherished husband, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2025, at the age of 56, in Wayne, Michigan. Born on January 21, 1969, in Detroit, Michigan, Joseph's life was marked by his selfless nature, his loving heart, and his unmistakable sense of humor.

His nearly 30-year marriage to his devoted wife, Brenda Stella, was a testament to his commitment and love. Their partnership was filled with mutual support, deep understanding, and countless cherished moments.

Joseph, known affectionately as Joe to his friends and family, was the son of the late Nina Jean Stevens and the late Joseph John Stella. His sisters, Nancy Jarvis (Barry), the late Susan Boguslaw (Dennis), and the late Kathleen Packer (Kenneth), shared in the joys and sorrows of life with him. Joe was a beloved uncle to his nieces Kristy, Jennifer, Renee, and Erika, and nephews Daniel, Christopher, and Bryan, as well as an adored great-uncle to Sydni, Jessica, Jaclyn, Mackenzie, Aniston, Michael, Lenny, and Michael. His warm presence will also be missed by his many cousins, two surviving aunts, and brothers-in-law Joe Tobias (Tisha) and Steve Tobias.

Joseph had a career at Delta Research, where he was respected for his meticulous work as a quality inspector. His commitment to excellence and his collaborative spirit were hallmarks of his professional life. Outside of work, Joseph dedicated time to coaching hockey, sharing his love for the sport with his nephew Danny and fostering team spirit and discipline among the young athletes.

Joseph's passions extended beyond the rink. He was an avid shooter, often attending apple seed gun shootings, and he reveled in the great outdoors, with hunting, fishing, and golfing being among his favorite pursuits. His devotion to his furbabies, Shelby and Maya, was unparalleled, and he cherished the memories of his past pups, Captain and Morgan. Joseph's adventures with Captain at Dogmatics, visiting assisted living facilities, and parading together brought joy to many.

A man of many interests, Joseph found a kindred spirit in his dear friend Mr. P "Pops" Together, they explored the art of smoking various foods, their bond strengthened by shared culinary adventures and the pursuit of perfecting their craft. Their friendship was a testament to Joseph's ability to form deep and lasting connections.

Joseph's legacy of giving continued even after his passing, with his decision to donate his eyes to Eversight, ensuring that his generosity would live on by helping others see the beauty in the world.

Joseph's life was a tapestry woven with love, laughter, and kindness. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Brenda Stella, who stood by his side through life's journey. His absence will be felt profoundly by all who knew him, yet the stories of his selflessness and the echoes of his laughter will continue to fill the hearts of his loved ones.

As we bid farewell to Joseph R. Stella, we celebrate a life lived with purpose, joy, and an abundance of love. His spirit will forever remain a guiding light to those he leaves behind.
