Obituary

Joseph Monaco was born on July 11, 1935 in Highland Park, Michigan. He passed away on August 18, 2021 at the age of 86 in Westland, Michigan. Joseph is survived by Five Daughters, Rozanne Monaco, Linda (Kevin), Eva Monaco, Valerie (Randy) Smith, Angela Monaco; Three Sons, Gerald Monaco, Nathan (Shawna) Sacks, Erin Monaco; Four Grandsons, Micheal Anderson, Nicholas Anderson, Daniel, Jacob Sacks; Two Granddaughters, CaSandra Dulmage, Katherine; Four Great-grandsons, Brandon, James, Ricky, William; Two Great-granddaughters, Pastella, Claire. He is preceded in death by Wife, Elizabeth Monaco, Father, Guiseppe Monaco, Mother, Catherine Monaco, Son, Gregory Monaco, Sister, Leocadia "Lilian" Hall, Sister, Genevieve Agee, Brother, Benjamin Monaco. 1953 - Joseph spent two years at University of Michigan. 1955- he taught two years of ballroom dance at Arthur Murrays. 1958- First marriage for seventeen years with seven surviving children. 1959- He did four years of skilled trades apprenticeship, five years as an elected UAW union representative, serving six months as an administrative assistant to Ford-UAW President, Ken Bannon. He medically retired from Ford Motor Company after thirty-five years. 1977- Second marriage to present wife Elizabeth (who was a single foster mother) raising a total of nine children (a foster son, an adopted son, and a step daughter). Joseph and Elizabeth celebrated their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary on the 25th of November, 2002. He has a total of twelve grandchildren. 1990- Joseph was elected commander of Wyandotte Power and Sail Squadron. His biggest love and hobby was sailing (Great Lakes, Caribbean, and Pacific Ocean). Qualified to teach Seamanship, Celestial Navigation, and Weather Forecasting. He served as secretary to the boating club (national non-profit organization) and took care of a his diabetic wife who is on dialysis. The family suggests memorial contributions to American Diabetes Association.
