Joseph A.
Kocsis
April 18, 1940 – July 16, 2024
Joseph Andrew Kocsis, a man of deep faith and boundless passion, left this world on July 16, 2024, at the age of 84. Born on April 18, 1940, in Detroit, Michigan, he was a lifelong resident of the state, passing away peacefully in Wayne, Michigan. He was the beloved husband of Mary Ann Kocsis, with whom he shared a loving marriage since August 12, 1961.
Joseph, a graduate of Cody High School, served his country with honor as a veteran of the Air Force. Following his service, he built a career as a dedicated purchasing agent, where his integrity and work ethic were greatly valued. He was a pillar of the SS. Simon and Jude Catholic Church for over 50 years, contributing not only as a member but also as the kitchen manager, where he combined his love for cooking with service to his church community.
A master model railroader, Joseph held the distinction of being MMR #110, a testament to his skill and dedication to the craft. His model railroads were more than a hobby; they were a canvas for his imagination and a source of joy for all who had the pleasure of seeing them.
Joseph's life was defined by his love for his family. He was a devoted husband to Mary Ann and a loving father to his children, Christopher (Lori) Kocsis and Victoria (Steven Caruso) Kocsis. He cherished the moments spent with his grandsons, Kevin (Emily Hilger) and Adam (Shannon) Kocsis, and was a doting great-grandfather to Aidan, Alycia, Evelyn, Lydia, Jax, Henry, and Levi. His family will remember him as the heart of their gatherings, a man who loved his family more than anything else.
Predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Stephania Kocsis, and his brother Robert Kocsis, Joseph's legacy is carried on through his family, who will continue to honor his memory by living out the values he instilled in them.
Joseph's life was a reflection of the words that best describe him: loving, faith-filled, and passionate. He approached every day with a heart full of love for his family, a soul committed to his faith, and a spirit eager to embrace his passions. His absence will be deeply felt by all who knew him, but his influence will remain a guiding force.
As we bid farewell to Joseph Andrew Kocsis, we celebrate a life well-lived, a journey marked by devotion, service, and the joy of simple pleasures. He has left an indelible mark on the hearts of his loved ones and the community that he held so dear.
