John Shields was born on August 20, 1951 in Dearborn, Michigan. He passed away on October 6, 2021, in Livonia, Michigan,at the age of 70. John is survived by three sisters, Donna Berry, Carol (Ray) Peterson, and Kathleen (George) Garis, and brother, Ken (Karen) Shields. John was preceded in death by parents, Thomas and Mary Shields, and brothers, Thomas Shields and Dennis (Peggy) Shields. John is also survived by several nieces and nephews. John was originally from Dearborn and was a 1969 graduate of Edsel Ford High School. He lived in Hastings for a number of years while working as a computer programmer for Hastings Mutual Insurance Company. He moved to Westland when he retired to be closer to family. John enjoyed playing chess, gardening, jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, bird watching (making sure his bird feeders were always full) and he loved taking care of his cats.
