It is with both sorrow and celebration of a life well-lived that we announce the passing of John Addison Rogers, who departed from this world on August 30, 2026 at the age of 77. John was born on March 7, 1949, in Detroit, Michigan to parents, John Addison Rogers and Mary Josephine Rogers nee Burns. John was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. He dedicated his career to the automotive industry as an assembler at Ford Motor Company, where his strong work ethic and commitment were a testament to his character.

John's spirit was characterized by a warmth and kindness that drew people to him. Those who knew him fondly referred to him as "Kenny Rogers" and "Santa Claus," reflecting his jovial nature and big heart. His love for classic rock music, especially the tunes of Bob Seger, brought joy to many gatherings, where he was known to spin records as a wedding DJ in his younger days.

Whether he was tending to his yard or indulging in the tranquility of bird watching, John found peace in the simple pleasures of life. A proud member of the National Guard for six years, John exemplified dedication and service. John was also known to be a fountain of knowledge, sharing fun facts and interesting stories that captivated his loved ones. He shared his love for the Detroit Tigers with his wife, Sheila, and life-long friend, Bob. Often you could find them watching or listening to games together.

His love for his family was boundless; he was married to his beloved wife, Sheila Rogers, for 51 years. Together they had two children: Carla (Harold) Olson and Jonathan (Lauren) Rogers. He adored his role as "Papa" to his cherished grandchildren, Brittany (Justin) Colbeck, Olivia (Michael) Raad, and great-grandchildren Brinley and Jameson Colbeck. He will also be deeply missed by his siblings, Kathleen Rogers, Delia (Thomas) Laux, Thomas Rogers and numerous nieces and nephews.

John was an active member of St. Michael Lutheran Church in Wayne, where he built lasting relationships and contributed to the community.

We encourage all those whose lives were touched by John to join us in celebrating a remarkable man who brought joy to those around him. His legacy of kindness, love, and laughter will forever be cherished, and he will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

John was preceded in death by: parents, John Rogers and Mary Burns Rogers, and sister, Margaret Rogers.
