John Hjeltness passed away on January 27, 2024 at the age of 53 in Ypsilanti, Michigan.  He was born on March 11, 1970 in Westland, Michigan to the late Jack "Poopsie" and Bretina.  John has been the beloved husband of Tara Hjeltness for 3 1/2 years. Loving father of Michelle, Ariana, Tyler, Jasmine, and Hunter.  Cherished grandfather of Cohen. Dear brother of Tomor (Sanya) Ali, Debbie (Tony) McGowan, Dhurat (Jim) Rosinski, the late James Hjeltness, and the late Patty Lynn Hjeltness.   John is preceded in death by his difference maker, Eunice Hjeltness, and he is also survived by many nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

John was a jokester. He found much joy in lovingly stirring the pot. He had a vivid memory and was a great story teller. He enjoyed recounting stories and experiences to anyone that would listen.  John had a very positive outlook.  He loved his friends like family and never met a stranger.

John was an avid sports fan.  He especially loved the Detroit Tigers, U of M, and was ALWAYS a fan of the Detroit Lions. He had a lot of fun picking teams and playing in his fantasy football leagues.

His loving heart and funny antics will be deeply missed.
