John Patrick
Dean
November 19, 1963 – December 4, 2023
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of John Dean, cheerfully known as Homey, on Monday December 4th, 2023. Born in Wayne Michigan, and lived in Westland, the community in which he lived in his entire life of 60 years. He was a graduate of Wayne Memorial High School in 1981.
Homey dedicated many years to life on the road as a semi truck driver, becoming a part of the "million mile club". He was a man of many passions, including University of Michigan athletics, fantasy football, golf, bowling, bringing people together, and giving back to others through his many charity events. He was well known for organizing his annual winter horseshoe tournament, also known as "snowshoes" which helped to donate over $25,000 over the past 30 years.
Homey is survived by his son, Jonathan Dean, his daughter Jordyn Dean, Jonathan's wife Elise Dean, Jordyn's partner Devin Lindholm, and their daughters Maci and Kali Lindholm. He is also survived by his eldest brother Paul Dean, second eldest brother Steve Dean, and his ex-wife Deborah Dean. His loved ones hold his memory close to their hearts. Homey is predeceased by his father Edward Dean, his mother Caroline Dean, and his sister Patricia Cerrito.
Homey's life was a journey of love, resilience, and creativity. He was a father, grandfather, and friend to many leaving behind a legacy of kindness and generosity. His absence leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew him, but his spirit lives on in the memories and stories shared by family and friends. Homey's time on earth may have ended too soon, but his story continues through the lives of those he loved. Rest in peace, Homey. You will forever be in our thoughts and hearts. Go Blue!
