John Milford
Clark, Jr.
January 31, 1936 – July 9, 2025
John M. Clark Jr., known fondly as John by his friends and family, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2025, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, at the age of 89. Born on January 31, 1936, in Detroit, Michigan, John lived a full and vibrant life characterized by his friendly demeanor and neighborly spirit.
John's early years were spent in the love of his late parents, John M. Clark Sr. and Lucy Coburn. His youth was filled with the bustling energy of the city, but he always had an affinity for the tranquility of the outdoors. After bravely serving his country as an Army veteran, he would eventually meet the love of his life, Joyce Clark, through their shared interests in bowling leagues and CB radios. Their unique connection over the airwaves blossomed into a beautiful marriage that lasted 29 years until her passing in 1999.
John was a cherished father to his daughter, Kim, and her husband, Eric LeForge, and a doting grandfather to Megan LeForge, who brought immense joy into his life. His best friend, Mike, was a constant companion for over two decades. Together, they spent countless hours in John's garage, watching the world go by, sharing coneys, and competing in shooting contests.
Throughout his life, John maintained a passion for staying active and engaged with his community. Even as he lost his sight, he continued to enjoy action novels, transitioning from reading to listening with the help of technology, his beloved Alexa. His love for wood working and tinkering kept him busy, while his good sense of humor and gruff but friendly nature made him beloved by many.
John's neighborly spirit was evident in the way he cared for those around him. For years, he generously mowed lawns and cleared snow for his entire block, never asking for anything in return. His love for camping and embracing the wilderness spoke to his adventurous heart.
John M. Clark Jr. leaves behind a legacy of kindness, humor, and a life well-lived. His mark on the world was one of genuine friendliness, and his memory will continue to inspire those who knew him to cherish the simple pleasures in life. John's journey may have come to a close, but the memories he created will forever resonate in the hearts of his family and friends.
