John Daryl Belt, age 79, passed away on August 27, 2026. He was born on March 25, 1947, to the late Johnnie and Helen Belt.

John was the beloved husband of Dana Belt, with whom he shared three years of marriage. He was a devoted father to John (Marci) Belt, Greg (Patty Whitman) Belt, Michelle Belt, and step father to James (Ashley) Block, and Samantha (Spencer Ferrarin) Berry. He was a loving grandfather to 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, who brought him great joy and whom he cherished dearly.

John proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army from 1964 to 1968. His military service was an important part of who he was, and he remained a proud and dedicated veteran throughout his life. He was actively involved with local veterans' associations and valued the friendships and camaraderie he found within the veteran community.

John had a laid-back and easygoing nature that made him a pleasure to be around. He was kind, generous, and always willing to make others feel welcome. To Dana, he was not only her husband but her companion and best friend. She described John as a handsome man who was always well dressed and, most importantly, someone who treated her with love and kindness.

John and Dana enjoyed their life together, especially their winters as snowbirds in Florida. He particularly loved their dinner dates by the water, where they could relax, enjoy a good meal, and spend time together. These simple moments became some of their most treasured memories.

A devoted sports fan, John loved following Michigan college sports as well as Michigan's professional teams. Whether watching a game or simply enjoying time with family and friends, John appreciated the simple pleasures of life.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie and Helen Belt; and his brothers, Jeffrey, Michael, and Elwood.

He is survived by his wife, Dana; his children, John (Marci) Belt, Greg (Patty Whitman) Belt, Michelle Belt, James (Ashley) Block, and Samantha (Spencer Ferrarin) Berry; his sister, Carolyn; his sister, Marilyn; 10 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends who will forever cherish his memory.

John will be remembered for his gentle spirit, generous heart, easygoing personality, devotion to his family, pride in his military service, and the love he shared with Dana. He leaves behind a lifetime of memories that will continue to bring comfort to those who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
