Obituary

Jeanette Lee Ables, a beacon of love and laughter, departed this world on August 28, 2024, at the age of 73. Born on February 19, 1951, in Traverse City, Michigan, Jeanette's life was a tapestry woven with devotion to her family, a storied career, and a passion for life's simple joys.

The daughter of the late Jack and Patricia Thomas, Jeanette grew up in a nurturing home alongside her siblings Gail Moser (Joe Pirone), Laura (Brad) Eaton, and John Thomas. Her early years in Traverse City were filled with cherished memories that laid the foundation for the incredible woman she would become.

Jeanette's heart found its counterpart in Charles Ables Jr., and together they built a life rich in love and shared purpose. Though Charles preceded her in death, their legacy continued through their children, Tracy (Bill) Tatro and Scott Ables, and their adoring grandchildren, Cailee (Coty), Ciara (Justin), Caseigh, and the late Crysta Brianne. Jeanette, known affectionately as "Grandma Cookie" by her grandchildren and "Geege" by the rest of her family, embodied the roles of mother and grandmother with every fiber of her being.

For 30 years, Jeanette dedicated herself to her work at General Motors, where her strong work ethic and amiable nature left a lasting impression on her colleagues. Her commitment extended beyond her professional life as she remained an active and devoted member of SS Simon and Jude Catholic Church for many years.

Jeanette's interests painted the picture of a woman who found delight in the world around her. She was an avid viewer of hospital and medical shows, as well as house hunting programs, which brought her both excitement and relaxation. Her sense of humor was one of her most defining traits; she was known for being wonderfully gullible, always ready with a laugh or to be the source of one.

Traveling with her grandchildren was among Jeanette's greatest pleasures. Each journey was an adventure, an opportunity to create lasting memories and to instill in them the same zest for life that she carried within her heart.

Those who knew Jeanette would describe her as loving, funny, and kind. She navigated life's challenges with grace and always managed to find the silver lining in every cloud. Her presence was a source of comfort and joy to all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Jeanette's passing leaves a void in the lives of her family and friends, but her spirit will continue to guide and inspire them. Her laughter, her unwavering kindness, and her boundless love are the gifts she has left behind, etched forever in the memories of those she touched.

As we say goodbye to Jeanette Lee Ables, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a woman deeply cherished. Her journey on earth has ended, but her story will be told for generations to come, a testament to the incredible person she was. Jeanette's legacy of love and laughter will resonate always, a melody that will never fade.
