Obituary

James William Young, affectionately known as James, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2024, in his hometown of Detroit, Michigan. Born on October 28, 1942, in the very same city, James's life was a testament to his unwavering dedication to his family, his work, and his country.

James's journey began as the beloved son of the late James and Inez Evangeline Young. His roots in Detroit ran deep, and it was here that he established his legacy. After proudly serving his country as a Marine, James returned to his beloved city to start his family and career. He spent an impressive 40 years working at Chrysler, where he was known for his strong work ethic and loyalty. Not one to sit still, he continued to contribute to the community by working at Northside Hardware in Wayne for 18 years after his retirement.

Family was the cornerstone of James's life. He is survived by a loving family that includes his son Jim (Traci Zwick-Young )Young, and his daughter Sheila (Ricky Pary) Mason. His four grandsons, Jason J. Young, Jesse T. Zimmerman, Easton M. Mason, and Clark J. Mason, will remember him as a pillar of strength and love in their lives. James also leaves behind his dear brother, Roland (Marilyn) Young, and his sisters, Jenny, Gracie, and Vergie.

Those who knew James were touched by his loving, generous, and thoughtful nature. He was the quintessential family man, devoted to his loved ones above all else. A dedicated worker, he took great pride in his work and in his service to his country. James was the definition of dependable, always ready to drop everything to come to the aid of a friend or family member.

James's life was one of service and love. As a proud Marine, he embodied the values of honor and commitment. His dedication to his work was matched only by his dedication to his family, for whom he provided with unwavering support and unconditional love.

The world has lost a truly generous soul in James. His thoughtful nature and ability to love unreservedly will be deeply missed by those who had the privilege of knowing him. James's legacy lives on through the lives of his children and grandchildren, who will continue to honor his memory by embodying the values he held dear.

As we say goodbye to James William Young, we celebrate a life well-lived. His memory will be cherished in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to have been touched by his generous spirit. James's life was a beacon of what it means to be loving, generous, and thoughtful, and he will be remembered with affection and admiration.
