James Walter
Prieskorn
March 8, 1959 – March 11, 2023
James "Jim" Walter Prieskorn was born on March 8, 1959. He passed unexpectedly on March 11, 2023 at the age of 64.
Born to the late: Neil and Virginia (Fowler) Prieskorn. Jim had one sibling, his sister whom he proceeded in death, Margaret Stettler. Jim is survived by his loving wife, 2 children and 3.5 grandchildren. Loving wife of 42 years: Diane (Clark) Prieskorn, son: Jason James and wife Courtney Prieskorn, their two children, Ashley and Evan James and his daughter: Laura (Prieskorn) and husband, Matthew Bailey, their daughter Aria, and second baby girl due in June.
Jim grew up in the city of Wayne, MI, where he graduated from Wayne Memorial High School. Jim met Diane in 1977, through mutual friends. He played football for his high school team where he received a scholarship to Ferris State University. He earned a degree in Heavy Equipment Diesel Technology. Jim always wanted to become a firefighter like his father who was the Fire Marshal for Wayne. However, his father insisted that he go to college and pursue a different career.
Jim had a heart for service and was an auxiliary police officer in Wayne for 12 years. He did what his father asked of him, however, he couldn't resist playing with fire and subsequently became a paid-on-call firefighter/EMT in Farmington Hills for 12 years. He did, however, put his degree to good use and started his own business repairing fire apparatus and pump testing. He was very dedicated and proud to assist many fire departments throughout Michigan and gained many good friends in the process.
In his early years, he loved playing softball and umpiring at Softball City. Jim loved spending time up north with family and friends: 4-wheeling, hunting and fishing. Jim had a great sense of humor, loved to laugh and swap pranks with his friends.
Jim and his wife lived in Livonia for most of their lives before relocating to Pinckney, MI in 2014. Jim was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend with a heart of gold who never failed to lend a helping hand. He will be deeply missed, but we know he is in God's embrace!
