James Patrick Bassett peacefully passed away on November 12, 2023 at the age of 80 in Dearborn, Michigan. He was born on July 16, 1943 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Patrick and Victoria Bassett. Beloved husband of Wife, Mary Bassett for 59 wonderful years.   Loving father to Son, Chris (Tania) Bassett, Son, Mike (Dawn) Bassett, and Son, Doug (Theresa) Bassett. Adored grandfather to Granddaughter, Sophia, Grandson, Bryan, Grandson, Joe, Grandson, James, Grandson, Cameron, and Granddaughter, Paige. Cherished great-grandfather to Great-granddaughter, Nevaeh, Great-grandson, Joe, and Great-granddaughter, Madison. Dear brother of  Brother, Richard Bassett, Sister, the late Susan Danhausen, Brother, the late Joe Bassett, and Brother, the late Hugh Bassett.

James and his wife Mary met in 8th grade and spent 59 loving years together. He was an amazing father and worked hard to provide his family with whatever they needed. He was a great sales person and sold just about anything you can think of.  He was an avid Detroit sports fan, especially the Detroit Tigers and Detroit Lions and tried to never miss a game. He also loved to golf in his free time. He was the sweetest grandfather and always loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved to tease his granddaughter Sophia. James's loving nature and kind heart will be deeply missed by all who love him.
