Jack Van Assche was born on December 6, 1946 in Dearborn, Michigan. He passed away on November 19, 2021 at the age of 74 in Farmington Hills, Michigan. Jack grew up in Dearborn and graduated from Lowrey High School in 1964. A few years later, Jack was enlisted in the army where he served as a first lieutenant during the Vietnam War from May of 1967 to February of 1969. Jack married his beautiful wife, Lila, on December 17, 1971. They shared nearly 50 years of marriage filled with love and laughter.
In his older age, Jack developed many hobbies. He was a lover of classical music and he enjoyed games and crosswords that kept his mind sharp throughout the years. Jack also enjoyed playing golf. He was active for many years with the Livonia Symphony, where he volunteered his talents as well as held a position on the music committee. He was a proud Vietnam veteran.
Jack is survived by wife, Lila Van Assche; son, Derek (Sara) Van Assche; granddaughter, Makenna Van Assche; grandson, Owen Van Assche; two brothers, David, Tim; and three sisters, Bonnie, Carol, Christine. He is preceded in death by father, Eugene Van Assche, mother, Virginia Van Assche, and brother, Charlie.
The family will be hosting a celebration of life for Jack at a later date. Service information will be updated on the obituary when final arrangements have been made.
