Helen Jean De La Garza, a beacon of love and faith, peacefully passed away on November 18, 2024, she resided in Brownstown Township, Michigan. Born on January 24, 1929, in Toledo, Ohio, Helen's life was a testament to the power of kindness and a steadfast spirit.

The daughter of the late William and Caroline Warren, Helen grew up in an environment that shaped her into the compassionate individual cherished by all. Her journey of love began next door, where she met her soulmate, Martin De la Garza, Sr. Their romance blossomed into nearly four decades of marriage until Martin's passing in 1989.

Helen's family was the cornerstone of her life. She was a guiding light to her children, Donna De La Garza, Martin (Sandy) De La Garza Jr., Mary (Phil) DeCamillo, and the late Philip (Linda) De La Garza. Her role as a grandmother to Diane (Rob) Cosby, Lori (Cal) Tait, Alyssa (Joseph) Welch, Ann Marie (Brandon) Cagnon, Michael (Crystal) DeCamillo, Vincent DeCamillo, Courtney (Austin) Guarnieri, Jessica De La Garza, and Dominique De La Garza was filled with the same nurturing love. Helen's legacy continued to flourish through her 13 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.

She is also fondly remembered by her sisters, Rosemary Miskelly and Caroline Smith, and her sister-in-law, Patricia Warren and was predeceased by her siblings, Ruby Hunter and David Warren. Her many nieces and nephews will hold dear the memory of Helen's generous spirit.

Helen's life was a true reflection of her faith. As a devout Christian, her commitment to her beliefs was unwavering. She was a pillar in her church, serving as a Sunday school teacher and deaconess, touching the lives of many with her caring and nurturing nature. Her passion for her faith extended beyond her local community as she wrote encouraging letters to missionaries, spreading hope and kindness across the globe.

Her love of God's creatures was evident in her fondness for birds and her cherished cats. Helen's compassion knew no bounds, and she lived her life as a model of generosity and humility.

A woman of many interests, Helen found joy in simple pleasures. She enjoyed playing bingo, not for the winnings but for the sheer fun and camaraderie it brought. Her laughter and happy demeanor were infectious, brightening the days of those around her.

Helen's character can be summed up in the words generous, loving, and faith-filled. She was the embodiment of these virtues, touching the hearts of everyone she encountered. Her selfless acts of kindness, whether through her dedicated church work or the warm, accommodating home she kept, were a testament to her loving nature.
