Hazel Geneva Shelton, a beacon of love and creativity, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2024, at the age of 89 in Livonia, Michigan. Born on May 26, 1935, in Cary, Kentucky, she was the cherished daughter of the late Virgil Lee and Thelma Irene Price. Her life was a testament to the power of faith, the warmth of family, and the joy of simple pleasures.
Hazel was the beloved wife of the late James Nevil Shelton and found love again with her long-time partner, the late Robert L. Miller. Together, they shared many adventures and created countless memories. She was a devoted mother to her daughter, Connie Shelton Byars, and her husband Nathan Dale Helton. Hazel's legacy continued to blossom with her grandson, Nicholas Byars, and his wife Betsy, and she was overjoyed by the arrival of her great-granddaughter, Natalie Rose Byars.
She was the dear sister to the late Ada Lee Tedders and her husband, the late James Tedders, with whom she shared many of life's milestones, and to Donald Lee Price and his wife Sylvia, with whom she enjoyed countless family gatherings. Hazel also held a special bond with her sister Debra Irene Akers and her husband David, cherishing the moments they spent together.
Hazel's faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she was a dedicated member of the First Congregational Church of Wayne for many years. Her commitment to her church community was evident in the countless hours she spent crafting for the Holiday Craft Show, where her handiwork brought joy to many.
Her creative spirit shone brightly in her hobbies. Hazel had a particular passion for crafting, which was not only a pastime but a way of bringing beauty into the world and into the lives of those around her. She also found pleasure in the excitement of going to the casinos with her husband Bob and her brother and sister-in-law, where laughter and companionship were the true jackpots.
Hazel was an exemplary homemaker and a good cook, known for her energetic and neat approach to life. Her home was a welcoming haven where friends and family gathered to enjoy her delicious meals and warm hospitality.
Those who knew Hazel would describe her as loving, creative, and faith-filled. She approached life with a kind heart and a spirit of generosity that touched everyone she met. Her love was a guiding force that will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
