It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Glady's A. Michalek, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who departed this life peacefully on August 29, 2026, at the age of 98. Born on October 11, 1927, in Detroit, Michigan, Glady's lived a rich and fulfilling life that touched the hearts of many.

Glady's grew up on a farm, embracing the values of hard work and family. In her youth she would ride the bus downtown where she worked, first at a box factory and then S.S. Kresge. She moved to the suburbs when she married her childhood sweetheart, John, in 1949, and together they shared 53 wonderful years of love and partnership until his passing. Their bond was a testament to enduring love, one that inspired all who knew them.

A loving mother to Sandy (Ronald) Neu, Michael Michalek, Joseph Michalek, and the late John (Donna) Michalek, Glady's cherished her family above all else. She found immense joy in the laughter and smiles of her grandchildren-Michelle, Ronald (Jennifer), Christina, Megan, Joseph (Jaclyn), Melissa, and Rebecca-and her great-grandchildren-Samantha, Juniper, Jonathan, and Jeniveve. Each child held a special place in her heart, and she poured her love into them, often surprising them with candy bags during holidays.

Glady's had a zest for life that was infectious. She relished her Sunday drives and family trips up north, always eager to create new memories with those she loved. Always up for a game of bunco or her favorite "sevens" card game, she found joy in winning games with family. Glady's had a particular fondness for Taco Bell, especially her favorite frozen Baja Blast, which embodied her delightful spirit. She was also an amazing cook. Golumpkis and city chicken were her specialty and she made each one with love and joy.

Generosity was at the core of who Glady's was. She made it a point to share joy with her neighbors, often bringing back goodies from her vacations to share with all. Her warm personality endeared her to everyone she met; to many, she was simply known as "Grandma."

Glady's legacy is one of love, kindness, and unwavering generosity. She leaves behind a family who will continue to celebrate her life and the countless memories they shared.

Public visitation will be on Friday, September 4 from 3:00 - 8:00 at Uht Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on September 5, 2026, at 10:00 AM at St.Alfred Church in Taylor, MI. All who knew and loved Glady's are invited to join us in honoring her remarkable life and the love she shared so freely.

In remembering Glady's, let us celebrate the joy she brought into our lives and the love she cultivated within her family and community. Her spirit will forever remain in our hearts.
