It is with a heavy heart yet profound gratitude for her life that we announce the passing of Geraldine Ann Sims, who peacefully passed on October 4, 2026, at the age of 90. Born on July 29, 1936, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Henry and Stella Zielinski, she touched the lives of many during her remarkable journey.
Geraldine's story began when she met her beloved husband at a movie theater at the tender ages of 16 and 17. It was love at first sight, and they joyfully married on July 4, 1952. Their union was filled with laughter and love until Richard's passing in 1977. Despite the heartache, Geraldine remained an unwavering source of strength and joy for her family.
She is survived by her sons, Richard (Robert) and Bob (Tracy), and daughters, Sheri (Fred), Pat (the late Donna), and Cindy (Steve). Geraldine's legacy also lives on through her grandchildren, Tracey (Rodney) , Kelley, Lance, Kenneth (Casey), Kevin (Mike), Miranda (David), great-grandchildren, Samantha (Abod), Mya, Kyden, Elli, Kara, Shaun (Destiny), Joseph, Megan, Madison, Kaden, Madison and Jacob and great-great grandchildren, Ali and Malachi. She is also survived by her brothers, Michael (Nancy) and Timothy (the late Diane), and many nieces and nephews.
As a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, Geraldine embraced her roles with love and pride. Her family was the center of her universe, and she cherished every moment spent together, especially during festive holiday gatherings. Known for her delicious meals, she was the glue that held her family together, creating memories that will be cherished for generations.
Geraldine had a green thumb; she found peace in her garden, lovingly tending to her flowers with pride. Her yard was a vibrant reflection of her spirit, a place where beauty blossomed just as her relationships did. Independent, headstrong, and undeniably loving, she was always ready to lend a helping hand and engage with anyone in need.
Geraldine's laughter was infectious, lighting up any room and bringing smiles to those around her. She had a unique zest for life, always eager to know what was happening in the lives of her loved ones, fostering connections that defined her legacy.
Geraldine lived a long and fulfilling life, overcoming many challenges with grace. Her resilience and warmth will forever be remembered and celebrated by her family and friends.
As we gather to honor Geraldine's life, we invite all who knew and loved her to join us in celebrating the beautiful legacy she leaves behind. She will be deeply missed but eternally remembered in our hearts.
Geraldine was preceded in death by her beloved husband. Richard Sims, parents, Henry and Stella Zielinski, grandson, Kyle, and brother, Sonny Zielinski.
